Exploring Minneapolis
I have always loved the city of Minneapolis. I was born and raised here, I spent many weekends exploring local restaurants and shops with my dad who taught me to appreciate the unique charm of my surroundings. But it was not until this week that I realized how special this city really is.
This past week I spent most of my time driving and walking through several neighborhoods in Minneapolis. My goal was to get a feel for the neighborhood, try and imagine what it would be like to live in each neighborhood and pick out unique features of every place. While doing this I observed so much more than just that. In every single neighborhood I felt something different. For example, in the Waite Park Neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis I saw tons of children playing and families taking walks. People on every block were doing yard work outside or simply sitting in their front yards enjoying the beautiful weather. Family is clearly the overall theme in Waite Park. With that said, I drove a couple blocks down Central Ave. into Windom Park, despite these neighborhoods being only a mile away from each other, the feel was completely different. Windom Park had tons of people walking up and down the busy Central Ave., there are businesses and churches from all different cultures placed in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is busy but all of the people were friendly and cheerful. I found it interesting that two neighborhoods located in the same city could be so different. As I continued on my trek through Minneapolis I realized that this is what makes our city so spectacular. Every neighborhood has its own personality, every place has something different to offer to their residents and i think that is really unique.
I encourage everybody to explore Minneapolis the way I have this week, you will be surprised at the cool things you will find.
