Relocating - #1 of 2...

You may be excited to move, but your family may have mixed or even negative feelings. These feelings are common. There are many ways realtors can help make everyone feel the excitement about relocating.

* Did you know relocation has moved up to #3 on the life’s stress list?

* Did you know that every year 20% or more of the population is moving?

* Did you know kids adjust better when you move during the school year?

* Do you know that the number one concern of most moving families is the career that one spouse is giving up to advance the other’s?

Realtors know and understand the concerns of relocating and have developed programs to help make the transition smoother. We have several programs to help the trailing spouse. We have contact lists for all large corporation and businesses in our area. We have the personnel or human resorce directors we can contact. We are involved in career networking groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, Biz to Biz, Business after Hours, etc.

If the same career path is not readily open to the trailing spouse, the issue may become quality of life that will determine whether you move or not! To help you answer quality of life issues we have lists of everything from civic groups, to churches, to sports, etc. If any of these are high concern areas for you, we suggest you contact us very early on, so we can begin the help searches right away for you. Don’t be worried. Remember that the St. Cloud area has a very steady but controlled growth rate.

Relocating parents are often most concerned about schools and safety. There are many ways we can help you discover the answers to your questions. The school board report cards list student/teacher ratios, average test scores, makeup of the student population and other pertinent data. We highly recommend you visit the school principal of any schools you are interested in. Although we can’t directly compare schools here to schools were you are, we can say that most people who have come here are very happy with our schools.

If your child has a special need, sport or interest realtors can help them find those groups too. Central Minnesota residents overall are very child oriented. You will find many programs of all types with a high level of parent involvement. It’s obvious, if you remember St. Cloud is home to St. Cloud State University, St. John’s University, St. Benedict’s College and St. Cloud Technical College, is located in 3 counties and the county seat of Stearns County. We have a very highly educated and education focused population and kids are very welcome here!
