First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit

You can receive up to $8,000 if you purchase a home between January 1, 2009 & December 1st, 2009.

  • First-Time homebuyers are anyone who hasn’t owned a home in the last 3 years.
  • If you own the new home for 3 years this credit does not require repayment.
  • The tax credit is equal to 10% of the home’s purchase price and is capped at $8,000.
  • To qualify, the homebuyer must have an annual adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less ($150,000 on a joint return).
