494 and 169 Interchange--Minnesotans Can't Do Roundabouts!

I've heard it said several times lately, in reference to the driver's (generally unpleasant) experience on the few roundabouts that are out there.  If it's true, we better learn!

You've driven by, and been annoyed by, all the construction surrounding the 169 and 494 interchange.  Did you know when completed it will include a series of six roundabouts working in unison?  Click here to check out MNDOT's latest update on the project. They're hosting an open house this Saturday, October 15th, from 9 to 1 at Braemar Golf Course that includes a golf cart version of a roundabout.  I'm busy that day, but if you're that lady who was holding up the traffic at 66th and Penn today, I think you should go practice.

Click here for a video file of the full overhead view of the project.  It's a futuristic version of a few years down the road when everyone's learned to use it. You can tell because all the drivers are moving smoothly and decisively.  I'm sure we'll get there.
