Minneapolis, “The City of Lakes,” is the largest city in Minnesota and one half of the famous Twin Cities. Its counterpart is the capital, St. Paul. Although small by comparison to New York City and Chicago, Minneapolis is equally cosmopolitan. It is said that Minneapolis has more theatre per capita than New York. True or not, it is a city devoted to the arts and boasts acclaimed art schools, institutes, performance venues, and many famous dancers, musicians, actors and authors. Minneapolis is also a manageable city laid out on an alpha-numeric grid (with a few exceptions) that encircles its chain of lakes. Housing ranges from ancient to new, and from modest to mansions, and most of its neighborhoods have high walking scores. As one of the first “rails to trails” cities, Minneapolis is proud of its biking and walking trails, “The Grand Rounds,” that criss-cross the city, a small part of its unbeatable park system that is almost as busy in the winter as it is in the summer. As a commercial center, Downtown Minneapolis is complete with skyscrapers and is home to several Fortune 500 Companies including Ameriprise Financial, Target Corporation and US Bancorp in addition to many fine shops, five-star hotels and restaurants and its brand new baseball stadium, Target Field, where the Minnesota Twins now play baseball the way it should be played--out of doors.
