Neighborhood Information

The Shingle Creek neighborhood in the far northwestern corner of Minneapolis derives its name from the creek by that name that runs through it to the nearby Mississippi River. The creek was named after the shingle mills that formerly operated on its banks beginning in 1852. The area is bordered on the north by 53rd Avenue North, on the east by Humboldt Avenue North, on the south by 49th Avenue North and on the west by Xerxes Avenue North. Residents and visitors enjoy beautiful Shingle Creek Park, nearly seventy acres of greenery and creekside offering walking and biking paths, a waterfall, and countless creature and bird sightings.
