Neighborhood Information

On Minneapolis's southern border with the City of Richfield, lies the Wenonah neighborhood. One of greater Nokomis's 5 boroughs, Wenonah is bordered on the south by Hwy 62, on the north by 54th Street E, on the east by 34th Avenue S and on the west by Lake Nokomis and Ceder Avenue S. Wenonah is yet another SE Minneapolis neighborhood named for a character from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, The Song of Hiawatha; Wenonah was Hiawatha's mother. Native Americans considered this area along with the nearby Coldwater Springs to be sacred.

Today one can walk to the nearby landmark 5-8 Club watering hole on Cedar Ave and try their signature "Juicy Lucy" hamburger, but be sure to take an extra "before and after" dose of your Lipitor to ensure you survive the stroll home.
