Butch's Blog
Welcome to my first real estate blog. I will be sharing some thoughts on a weekly basis regarding what I have learned in the past 27 years selling homes in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
There are three important steps a seller must take prior to putting their home on the market:
- Preparing
- Pricing
- Promotion
This week I am going to discuss the importance of Preparing your home prior to putting it on the market. It is essential to acknowledge and minimize as many objections as possible. Firstly, curb appeal is a crucial element in marketing your home and should be looked at through a buyer's eyes. Exterior elements should be clean, updated and inviting. Landscaping should be neat and trimmed or replaced. Many buyers will first drive by your home before calling an agent to look inside. You have one chance to make a first impression! Secondly, the interior spaces need to be staged. These may include carpet, wallpaper, paint colors, hardwood floor refinishing, kitchen updates, rearrangement of furniture and decluttering/depersonalization to make your home and the spaces within it appealing to the current marketplace.
Stay tuned next week for important details on the second step, Pricing your home...
