There may be a reason--even if they are 'newer'.  If your home has Certainteed Shingles that were manufactured between 1987 & 2005, they may be defective and you may be able to recover some amount via a settled class action law suit.  While retrieving a tennis ball from a gutter, I noticed my shingles didn’t look right [10 years old] and did some investigating which led to my discovery of the CertainTeed Law Suit Settlement.  Certainteed shingles are very popular here in MN, so there is a fair chance they are on your roof and could fail prematurely.  There are some time windows which are rapidly approaching if you are in fact eligible to participate in the recovery process!  Let me know if you have questions!
