Founded in 1969, Apple Valley’s development is largely attributed to Orin Thompson, a real estate developer. Because the civil planning firm that selected this area as the next Twin Cities growth was located in Apple Valley, California, the name was selected for the new development. Since it’s founding, the city has grown into a thriving suburb of over 49,000 residents.
