Bayport was originally platted as three separate communities: Bangor, Baytown, and Middletown around 1856. In 1873, however, the St. Croix Railway Improvement Company combined the villages into the community of South Stillwater, which was incorporated into a village in 1881. Due to common confusion between the Village of South Stillwater and the City of Stillwater, the community was finally given it’s current name: Bayport.
