City History
Primarily settled by Irish, English, and Scottish farmers, the area that would become present-day Edina was originally a part of the Richfield Township. In 1888 the residents of the area held a meeting to discuss creating a new village separate from the township, and so Edina was born. The city has grown and developed into one of the most affluent suburbs of Minneapolis.
