Village History

Ellsworth was first settled in 1857 at the town of Perry. Five years later, the Village of Ellsworth was platted. In 1885, the Omaha Railroad reached the area, which prompted the community of East Ellsworth to spring up. Though these communities operated separately for some time, they are now one village. Today, Ellsworth is home to just over 3,000 residents, and lays claim to the title of ā€œCheese Curd Capital of Wisconsinā€.
