The Elmwood Post Office has been in operation since 1885, and the small, primarily agricultural, community has grown very slowly around it. Elmwood is most notably recognized as a town that has frequent UFO sightings. In the 1980s, there was a proposed UFO landing site, which unfortunately never received enough funding to come to fruition. Today, Elmwood is known for its quiet, safe streets, and close-knit community.
