The Elmwood Village Board is responsible for staffing policy committees and deciding on matter of village business. This seven-member board is made up of seven members, with one president and six trustees. Together, these seven officials are responsible for the administration of policies, ordinances, and budgets, and meets on the second Monday of each month.
The Elmwood Post Office has been in operation since 1885, and the small, primarily agricultural, community has grown very slowly around it. Elmwood is most notably recognized as a town that has frequent UFO sightings. In the 1980s, there was a proposed UFO landing site, which unfortunately never received enough funding to come to fruition. Today, Elmwood is known for its quiet, safe streets, and close-knit community.
