Settlement of the Falcon Heights area began in the 1840’s, before the state of Minnesota even became an official territory. It was located within old Rose Township. Isaac Rose was one of the first settlers of the area, and the Township was named after him. Residential development began in the 1920’s, and Falcon Heights received its name in the 1930’s, after a real estate agent named Faulkner. His first house was constructed on the land in 1937. Retail business construction began in the area in the 1940’s and continued developing throughout the years. Falcon Heights was originally incorporated as a village in 1949, and officially became a city on 1974.
