The name was changed to Loring Park in 1890, after Charles Loring, the first Park Board President, who was instrumental in crafting the Minneapolis park system into what it is today. The neighborhood began with a distinctly urban identity, and in the beginning of the 20th century transitioned into a middle-class community. Today, Loring Park is a chic neighborhood filled with engaged and passionate residents.
