City History

Established on February 25th, 1856, Morrison County has a long and proud history. At the time of establishment, the area was already home to Fort Ripley, which boasted a sawmill and military outpost. As the area continued to develop, Little Falls was created and took over as the county seat. Dams provided water power to the city, attracting industries such as lumbering and paper milling. Today, manufacturing and retail have taken over as major industries, providing a thriving economic environment to the countyā€™s 35,000 residents.
