Ramsey County was established in 1849, shortly after the Minnesota Territory was created. Located on the Mississippi, settlers flocked to the area by steamboat, increasing the population of St. Paul and the county at-large. Outside of the county seat ā€“ St. Paul ā€“ Ramsey County was filled with small farms and quaint communities. Notable towns in the early days included White Bear Lake, which was known as a vacation destination, and Roseville, which became a commercial center very quickly once established. As the County continued to grow and modernize, the County stood out as a leader in social service work, which helped to shape the area into what it is today. Currently, Ramsey County is home to approximately 530,000 residents and is known for its thriving economy and fantastic residential services.
