The Rockford City Council is responsible for the administration of policies and ordinances within the city. The council consists of the Mayor and four additional councilmembers.
Originally settled in 1855, Rockford Township began as a small milling community. Wood, wool, and flour were all milled in the early days, and with the addition of the railroad, the community was incorporated into a village in 1881. The population has grown slowly throughout the communityās existence, breaking 1,000 in 1970. Since then Rockford has grown into the vibrant city of over 4,000 that it is today.
