Local Government

The Scandia City Council consists of five-members, the Mayor, and four additional councilmembers. This group presides over all official city business including budgets, policies, and ordinances.

City History

In 1850, the first permanent settlement was established on the shores of Hay Lake, and slowly the community of Scandia was born. Primarily settled by Scandinavian immigrants, the city has fought to maintain its original rural feel and historic ethnic roots. Today, Scandia is home to approximately 4,000 residents.
