Independent School Distict 831, Forest Lake Area Schools, is responsible for providing educational services and resources to the residents of Scandia and the surrounding communities. This district has been recognized for one of the best high schools in the nation, as well as rigorous academic standards, impressive athletics, and so much more.

Metro Transit provides a park and ride lot as well as an express bus route from Forest Lake, which offers the residents of Scandia a reliable, eco-friendly option for those who either commute into the Twin Cities for work, or simply would like to explore the metro area.

City History

In 1850, the first permanent settlement was established on the shores of Hay Lake, and slowly the community of Scandia was born. Primarily settled by Scandinavian immigrants, the city has fought to maintain its original rural feel and historic ethnic roots. Today, Scandia is home to approximately 4,000 residents.
