Welcome to Tangletown! Find Your Place Here.

The Tangletown neighborhood is located in southwestern Minneapolis.  This neighborhood is contained by 46th Street to the north, Interstate 35W to the east, Diamond Lake Road to the south, and Lyndale Avenue South to the west. This community is aptly named due to the winding, hilly topography that doesn’t follow the rest of south Minneapolis’s easy-to-navigate, generally flat grid system. Tangletown offers historic, stately homes situated on lots flush with mature trees. One of the many fascinating historic features of this neighborhood is the Tangletown water tower, while practical, it is also a beautiful architectural highlight. Built in 1932, this water tower being situated atop a hill, offers a stunning panoramic view of the city of Minneapolis. Another highly sought after feature of this community is Minnehaha Creek, a tributary of the Mississippi river, which spans the southern part of the neighborhood. Minnehaha Creek flows from Lake Minnetonka to Minnehaha Falls that can be navigated via kayak or canoe.  The area surrounding the creek is flanked by walking and biking trails that are part of the 51 mile long trail system called the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway that runs all throughout Minneapolis. Adding to the area’s many charms are plentiful small businesses to conveniently eat, drink, and shop; including local favorites Sun Street Breads, Wise Acre, and Tangletown Gardens. Many businesses in this neighborhood are easily accessible by foot or bike lending to the areas convenience. Downtown Minneapolis is just a short drive, bus ride, or even bike ride away from this neighborhood making it highly desirable for anyone looking for an abbreviated commute.
