Local Government

Taylors Falls operates under the mayor-council form of government. The mayor and councilmembers are all elected at large, and serve staggered terms. The five-member council is responsible for all legislative and administrative duties within the city.

City History

Taylors Falls, named for pioneer Jesse Taylor, was incorporated in 1858. The beautiful area was first utilized in the lumber trade, and was the Northern white pine capital of the world at one point. The lumber trade attracted additional settlers, and the beauty helped to continue the community’s growth. The city maintains its’ small town feel to this day, and is currently home to around 1,000 residents.
