City History

Woodland began first as a summer destination, and welcomed its first year-round residents in 1882. Two major neighborhoods sprang up, Maplewoods and Groveland. As the neighborhoods grew the area was incorporated into the Village of Maplewoods, but the name was later changed to Woodland to incorporate pieces of both neighborhoods into the community’s name. Today, this beautiful city is home to fewer than 500 residents, and is considered a gem in the Twin Cities metro.
