Minimum Credit Scores Announced for FHA Mortgages

Effective October 4, 2010, borrowers with a credit score under 500 wil not be eligible for FHA financing. Credit scores between 500-579 will be required to have at least a 10% down payment. Credit scores of 580 or higher will be eligible for maximum financing with as little as a 3.5% down payment. Non traditional or insufficient credit histories may be eligible for maximum financing but must meet underwriting guidelines.
