Minneapolis Ranks Top Healthiest City!

Forbes says we are living in the countries healthiest City - how cool is that?  They took into account air quality, resident's health and community promotion of health and exercise when choosing. According to Forbes, Minneapolis residents breathe clean air, prioritize exercise and keep their weight down, supported by a city that was among the first to add bike trailsand ban smoking in public places. If you live in Minneapolis-St. Paul, you and your neighbors are less likely to have cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and asthma and are more likely to be in excellent or very good health. (It helps that you're less likely to smoke and more likely to walk or bike to work -- in the summer, at least). The article adds "Minneapolis has lots of open spaces, parks, and walking areas, and you see people walking everywhere". The Twin Cities do their part by setting aside a high percent of the city as parkland, offering plenty of ball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, dog parks, golf courses, and recreation centers. How do Twin Cities residents keep up their commitment to fitness during the area's notoriously cold winters? Snow sports and "lots of fitness centers," says Forbes.

The top ten healthiest City list includes, in order: Minneapolis, Washington DC, Boston, Portland (Oregon), Denver, San Fransicso, Hartford (Connecticut), Seattle, Virginia Beach and Sacramento.  Read the Forbes article for more details and the rest in the top 20 healthiest Cities.
