City History

First organized in 1857, present-day Andover operated under the name Round Lake Township. This name did not last long, however, and three years later was changed to Grow Township. At this time, the township consisted of the territory of both present-day Ham Lake and Andover and was home to just over 300 residents. Though the township grew slowly over the next hundred years, the 1970s brought with it a population boom. As a result, the township reorganized into Andover Village, with the name coming from the historic Andover train station. Two years later, the village transitioned into a city.

Today, the city of Andover is home to over 30,000 residents and provides a thriving community and economic environment, making it a wonderful place to live and grow.
