City History

Established in 1866, Cambridge began as a haven for primarily Swedish immigrants. From its incorporation through the early 1900s, commercial industries boomed here, with the addition of a variety of milling operations as well as an electric plant. Growth remained slow, but constant throughout the 1900s, reaching approximately 5,500 by 2000. Today, Cambridge is home to about 8,000 residents and is still a fantastic place for businesses and citizens alike.
