Recreation

If you love outdoor activities there is no shortage of things to do in Glenwood. Barsness Park, one of the most scenic parks in Pope County offers up 300 acres, 150 of which is a wildlife preserve, and four miles of hiking trails! Glenwood also boasts a shooting range along with an 18 hole disc golf course!

Schools

Glenwood resides in the Minnewaska School District. They provide an elementary school in Glenwood for early childhood to third grade as well as a middle school and a high school to serve Glenwood and the surrounding areas.

 

Transportation

Rainbow Rider Transit provides extensive public transportation services throughout West Central Minnesota, including serving the residents of Pope County. From regularly schedules bus routes to dial-a-ride reserved transportation; Rainbow Rider is open and available to all residents.

 

Local Government

The city commission consists of a Mayor and four City Commissioners. The city commission meetings take place every second Tuesday in the Glenwood City Hall

 

City History

Glenwood was founded in 1866 and was named after the glen, which is a valley, and the woods near the original townsite. In 1867 a post office was formed and the city was officially incorporated in 1912.
