City History

First settled in the mid-1800s, the area that would become Jordan was actually home to two separate communities. In 1872, these two communities ā€“ Jordan City and Brentwood ā€“ were incorporated into the village of Jordan. At this time, there existed stores, schools, and churches, but the locals wanted to add a county courthouse into the mix. The village tried, ultimately unsuccessfully, to have the county seat moved to Jordan from 1872 to 1929. The city continues, as it did then, to thrive, and is now home to approximately 6,000 residents.
