Originally part of Greenfield Township in 1858, Mahtomedi began as a vacation destination filled with summer homes. The village grew as the railroad and streetcar service connected the area to Saint Paul, and with the addition of the Wildwood Amusement Park, Mahtomedi became a frequent destination for many residents of the Twin Cities. With the advent of the automobile, the parkā€™s popularity declined, and it was eventually dismantled, but the city continued to grow into a thriving St. Paul suburb. Today, Mahtomedi is a beautiful city that is home to over 7,000 residents.
