City History

Established in 1850, the Rose Township is located halfway between the equator and the North Pole (a fact which is denoted on a boulder located on present-day Cleveland Avenue). Agriculture dominated the area until the 1930s, when the railroad and wide-open spaces attracted major commercial development. Following World War II, the townshipā€™s government could no longer accommodate the rapid population increase, and in 1948 Roseville was incorporated into a village. As growth continued in the ā€˜50s and ā€˜60s the community focused on redevelopment and preservation. Today, Roseville is a thriving suburb with a vibrant economy and strong community.
