City History

Located on the shores of Lake Fremont, Zimmerman was originally settled by that name. The village of Lake Fremont was incorporated in 1910, and over the years has maintained its agricultural roots. With the addition of the Great Northern Railroad line, the village prospered. In 1967 the village of Lake Fremont was incorporated into the City of Zimmerman. The name was chosen to honor Moses Zimmerman, who was instrumental in the decision to run a rail line to the community. Today, Zimmerman is home to approximately 5,000 residents.
