Vikings Staduim at Arden Hills TCAAP site Debate Contiues
The debate continues around building a stadium for the Minnesota Vikings in Arden Hills at the site of the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant “TCAAP” after a Letter of Intent was sent from the Vikings owner Zigy Wilf to the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners. The city of Arden Hills is keeping its residents informed on the City of Arden Hills web site. In a Star Tribune article hints of a Stadium Sales Tax in Ramsey County have emerged. There is both excitement about potential jobs and jump starting the redevelopment of the TCAAP site and concerns from local residents about the impact of having the stadium in the area. One local news source KSTP 5 headlines an article touting "Vikings: Arden Hills Site 'Excellent' for Stadium". An article in the Pioneer Press states "Vikings Stadium could be a tough sell with some Arden Hills residents"while at the same time citing support from others. Redevelopment of the TCAAP site, located to the East of 35W between Co I and Hwy 96, has been stalled for quite a while. While Arden Hills does not own the site local zoning authority would most likely fall to the city council. Other suburbs adjacent to the site include New Brighton and Shoreview. Whether you are in favor of or opposed to the building of a stadium on the site, this debate will shine the spotlight on TCAAP and its redevelopment for the foreseeable future. Your comments both for and against are welcome..
