Medina accepts Twins Community Fund grant for ball field lights

The Medina City Council Tuesday, Jan. 4, accepted a $25,000 matching grant from the Minnesota Twins Community Fund that will be applied to the first phase of installing lights at the Hamel Legion Park ball fields.


Medina accepted the grant with the understanding that the city and the Hamel Athletic Association would need additional money to complete the ball field light project. One source of money might be a grant from the Hennepin Youth Sports Program. The city is planning to apply for an HYSP grant during the next application cycle.

At the meeting, the City Council also took up other business. Here are some meeting highlights.
