Engage! Engage! Engage!

and again...Engage! Not just a hokey word from Star Trek: The Next Generation, it is also a commandment of social media.
It's not surprising, really. People don't like the pushy sales person or the know-it-all who talks more than listens...who knew? It is clear that this personality trait is brought over to on-line communication. Users of Facebook don't like being sold to, but rather interacted with. An easy way to measure whether or not you are interacting on social media is to look at the number of comments you are receiving on your posts. If you have 600 friends on Facebook and zero or one person is commenting on your posts, you know that:

a. You have very dull friends and you need to upgrade the quality and quantity of your contacts.

b. You are very dull and you need to upgrade the quality and quantity of your personality.

c. a and b

d. You are a broker/owner and the people that read your posts are genetically predisposed to ignore everything you say or roll their eyes and say "oh, there he goes talking about something technological again."

We at RE/MAX Results have tried to make easier and more understandable the technological offerings in this world (pause for laughter) and to make it easier for you to post your genius opinions (another pause) across the internet. With this in mind, we have made several upgrades to Results.net. These upgrades, along with another set coming in early January, are designed to make the user experience more enjoyable and more interactive for the general public as well as making it easier for you to publish your musings on social media.

In early September we added "share" buttons on every listing on Results.net. These little buttons (they look like little Facebbook, Twitter and other social media logos) allow a user OR AN AGENT (hint hint) to easily share listing information via the most commonly used social networking media. USE THESE! But wait, there's more! As of Thursday, we have added these share buttons to every single blog post on our web site. Now you can harness the power of the blogging you (and others) are doing on Results.net to increase your interaction with your sphere group (because certainly you have your sphere group friended on Facebook and following you on Twitter. If you don't, please slap yourself for me.)

Here's a video that shows you how to do this.

Real world example: You read a blog post on our site written by a super-hip agent out of the Uptown office about the best restaurants in that area. You simply hit the Facebook icon on that post and add the question "Uptown has it goin' on, what restaurants are missing from this list?" (Change areas of town in this equation or delete the "super-hip" part if appropriate.) I did this little experiment and it took me 22 seconds.

Now, go do likewise. Engage!
