Cost of Living Calculations
In the past couple of months I've spoken to a number of relocating home buyers and others who have been considering taking a job in the Twin Cities. Housing costs can vary widely from city to city within the Twin Cities and the cost of living can vary dramaticily from region to region across the United States. There are a number of cost of living calculators that can be used to help determine if a move to the Twin Cities is a good economic move for a family or not.
For example, for a family considering a move from Beverly Hills to St. Paul, the cost of living would be 27% lower with housing being 8% less.
Another couple considering a move from Milwaukee to Minneapolis learned that the cost of living in Minneapolis is 22% higher with health care being 34% higher.
Similarly, a family of 6 would find that a move to Plymouth would result in a 23% higher cost of living than their present home in Mesa, AZ and that housing was 50% higher.
A Chicago couple would be pleased to learn that Minneapolis would result in a 19% lower cost of living and a 48% lower cost for housing.
