Property owners in District 196 will pay less tax if their home follow market trends.Residential property owners in District 196: Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan will finally get some tax relief next year. The tax relief will be as a result of the decline in home values.The elimination of the market value homestead credit is another reason the district decided to lower its property tax levy.

The Farmington City Council’s latest 2012 budget plan is to redirect money to help pay down the levy to reduce anticipated property tax increases.
The city council proposed a tentative plan that seeks $175,000 in cuts from the city’s proposed budget, the council’s current plan is to put that money toward alleviating the property tax burden on residents and business owners.
