The city of Savage, which started as trading post and progressed to a railroad and lumber town, is now one of the fastest growing communities in Scott County. The city has a fascinating history which includes a crash landing by Charles Lindbergh before he became famous and the world renowned race horse, Dan Patch, who achieved a world’s record for the mile at the Minnesota State Fair in 1906 and held it for 54 years. The townspeople so loved the horse's owner, philanthropist M.W. Savage, they named the town after him. Today Savage prides itself in its public school system, well-planned neighborhoods and top-notch city services because the town knows its lush beauty on the bluffs overlooking the Minnesota River Valley just comes naturally.
