As the townshipā€™s population grew with the addition of the railroad, residents began needing a more stringent form of government, and in 1957 the village of Shoreview was incorporated. The addition of Highway 694 in 1963 increased access to the area, and prompted even further population expansion. Since then, Shoreview has grown into a thriving Twin Cities suburb with over 25,000 residents.
