The Plum City School District is responsible for providing educational services and resources to students residing in Maiden Rock and surrounding communities. There are no independent public transportation services in the town of Maiden Rock, with the exception of Plum City School District’s bus transportation for students.
The town of Maiden Rock is governed under seven municipal officers, including a town chairman, two supervisors, and a treasurer, assessor, building inspector, and county board supervisor. They meet for town hall meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
Maiden Rock village began its life as a logging settlement, first known as Harrisburg, in the 1850’s. By the late 1850’s, the village had commercial buildings, a school, and steamboat for residents to travel to other communities. The village developed even more throughout the 1900’s, but the only remaining industry in the area is an underground sand mine.
